Gator SRX Soft Roll-Up Tonneau Cover

★★★★★4.8· thousands of reviews

The Gator SRX soft roll-up tonneau cover combines daily-driver convenience with dependable weather protection for your truck bed. We engineered the SRX around a tri-fold vinyl top that rolls open in seconds and latches closed without tools—perfect for anyone who switches between hauling gear and locking down cargo.

Our SRX features dual-seal rails that channel rain away from your bed, keeping tools, camping gear, and groceries dry even in downpours. The UV-resistant vinyl stays supple through summer heat and winter freeze cycles, and the powder-coated aluminum frame stands up to highway speeds and truck-wash abuse. Whether you’re commuting to the job site or heading to the trail, the SRX delivers quick-access storage that doesn’t compromise security.

Weather Sealing & Material Construction

The SRX uses 24-ounce marine-grade vinyl that we source from the same supplier behind our heavy-duty commercial tarps. This weight class sits between lightweight camping fabric and full rigid panels—thick enough to shed rain and resist punctures from loose gravel, yet flexible enough to roll smoothly without cracking in sub-zero temps.

Our dual-seal rail design channels water to the outside of your bed rails, not into the stake pockets. Each rail carries an extruded EPDM gasket that compresses against the vinyl when you latch the cover, forming a continuous seal from tailgate to cab. We tested the SRX in a recirculating rain chamber at 3 inches per hour for 90 minutes—typical conditions on a highway during a thunderstorm—and recorded zero intrusion past the first six inches of bed length.

Installation & Bed Compatibility
Sizing & fit

Installation & Bed Compatibility

We designed the SRX clamp system to fit factory stake pockets on full-size and mid-size trucks without drilling into your bed rails. Each side rail carries four adjustable clamps that slide into the pockets and tighten with a hex key—total install time runs about 20 minutes for a first-timer.

The frame accommodates most drop-in bed liners and spray-in coatings. If you run a thick liner with raised stake pocket covers, you may need to trim the clamp feet by a quarter-inch—our installation manual includes a template for that scenario. The SRX also plays well with fifth-wheel hitches and gooseneck balls; the roll-forward design lets you expose the front bed section without removing the entire cover.

Styling

Roll-Up Operation & Cargo Access

The SRX rolls from the cab forward toward the tailgate, giving you instant access to the rear third of your bed without disturbing gear stored up front. Four hook-and-loop straps secure the rolled vinyl against the cab-side header bar, and the automatic tensioner keeps the fabric drum-tight even after dozens of open-close cycles.

We built the tensioner around a spring-loaded cam inside each rail. As the vinyl relaxes from heat or repeated use, the cam rotates to take up slack—you never twist a knob or re-tighten bolts. This self-adjusting mechanism is the same one we use on our commercial flatbed tarps, where daily rolling is the norm and sagging fabric creates a safety hazard.

Installs fast, seals tight
I put the SRX on my Silverado in under 30 minutes with no help. The clamps dropped right into the stake pockets and the instructions were clear. We’ve had two heavy rainstorms since install and my tools stayed bone dry. The roll-up action is smooth and I like that I can leave it partially open when I need to.

Perfect for daily hauling
I haul landscaping supplies during the week and camping gear on weekends. The SRX rolls forward in seconds so I can load mulch bags, then I roll it back and latch it for the drive home. The vinyl has held up through a full summer of sun and hasn’t faded or cracked.

Great value, minor tailgate gap
The cover fits my Tacoma well and the automatic tensioner really does keep the vinyl tight. I noticed a small gap at the tailgate corner on the driver side, but adding a foam strip from the hardware store fixed it. For the price, this is a solid everyday cover.

Better than my old snap cover
I upgraded from a snap-style cover and the SRX is night and day. No more fighting with snaps in the cold, and the dual seals actually keep rain out. The low profile looks clean on my truck and I don’t lose any rear visibility.

Holds up to highway speeds
I drive 70 miles each way to work and the SRX stays put at highway speeds. No flapping, no wind noise. The powder coat on the rails still looks new after six months of freeway commuting and one trip through an automatic truck wash.

Easy to remove when needed
I haul motorcycles a few times a year and need the cover completely off. The SRX unlatches in about two minutes and I can lift it off solo. The carry bag keeps it clean in my garage until I reinstall it. Only downside is the bag takes up some space, but that’s a small trade-off.

Good to know

Common Questions About the SRX

No drilling required. The SRX installs with adjustable clamps that slide into your factory stake pockets and tighten with a hex key. The system fits most full-size and mid-size trucks with standard bed rails.

If you have a thick drop-in liner or aftermarket bed caps, you may need to trim the clamp feet slightly—our installation manual includes a template and instructions for that scenario. Total install time is about 20 minutes for a first-time user.

The SRX features dual-seal rails with EPDM gaskets that channel water away from your bed. We tested it in a recirculating rain chamber at 3 inches per hour and recorded zero water intrusion past the front six inches of the bed.

In real-world use, the cover keeps cargo dry during highway rainstorms and automatic truck washes. A small amount of mist may enter near the tailgate corners in extreme conditions, so we recommend keeping sensitive electronics in waterproof cases if you’re driving through a hurricane.

Yes. The SRX rolls forward from the cab, so you can expose the front section of your bed where fifth-wheel and gooseneck mounts typically sit. This design lets you tow without removing the entire cover.

For full access to a puck system or flip-over ball, roll the vinyl all the way to the front header bar and secure it with the included hook-and-loop straps. The process takes under a minute and doesn’t require unlatching the side rails.

The SRX sits in the middle of our soft-cover lineup. It uses heavier 24-ounce vinyl than the entry-level SLX, which gives you better tear resistance and weather sealing. The SRX also includes an automatic tension system that keeps the fabric tight over time—the SLX requires manual adjustment.

Compared to the HRX hard roll-up, the SRX is lighter and rolls more compactly, but the HRX offers slatted aluminum panels that resist cutting better than vinyl. Choose the SRX if you want daily-driver convenience and strong weather protection without the weight of a hard cover.

Clean the SRX every few months with mild dish soap, warm water, and a soft brush. Rinse thoroughly and let it air-dry before rolling the cover up—trapping moisture inside can cause mildew in humid climates.

Avoid petroleum-based cleaners, as they break down the UV coating on the vinyl. For stubborn dirt or tree sap, use isopropyl alcohol on a microfiber cloth and rinse immediately. The powder-coated aluminum rails need only an occasional wipe-down to remove road salt.

The SRX works with most drop-in bed liners and spray-in coatings. The clamps adjust to accommodate liner thickness up to about half an inch above the factory stake pockets.

If your liner has raised stake pocket covers, you may need to trim the rubber feet on the clamps by a quarter-inch. We include a trimming template in the installation manual, and the modification takes about five minutes with a utility knife. The SRX will not fit over tonneau cover rail systems from other brands—remove those rails before installing the SRX.

The SRX includes integrated latch receivers that accept most aftermarket tailgate locks. When your tailgate is locked, the rear header bar is sandwiched between the locked gate and the bed floor, preventing the cover from opening.

This system stops casual theft and keeps cargo out of sight, but it’s not a vault-grade deterrent. A determined thief with a knife can cut through the vinyl. For high-value tools or job-site security, we recommend pairing the SRX with a locking toolbox bolted inside your bed.
